Super interesting to read this review as I visited the Exeter branch recently but held off writing a review on my substack because both my fellow diner and I ordered main courses and I suspect the place comes into its own if you go for an assortment of small plates. For the record, the swordfish I had – a special – was really good and he had steak which he was most pleased with. Another aspect of the experience I can’t comment on is the outside area which looks delightful, situated as it is overlooking the quay in Exeter. So, my view was positive but like so many places, replying on a focus group/Spotify/AI (whatever?) to provide the musical backdrop is forever disappointing.
Hi Meg
Thank you for visiting us.
Just to clarify Tom lodge just worked for Crave and was not in charge of the concept or the menu.
The Heat on ITV ( not my thing and never watched it) was something that Tom did after he started working at Crave Exeter.
I wanted to support a young chef and he’s now doing other things.
Seb is a great chef and we will keep evolving the menu.
All of the food feedback taken on board and will start working on it.
congratulations on your engagement.
