Where to eat in December
Come all ye hungry
Merry December Saucers! A quick reminder that you can gift a subscription to The Bristol Sauce to your nearest dearest food obsessive and even have it delivered on Christmas Day. In doing so you’ll not only be giving your loved one a whole year of eating inspiration but you’ll also be gifting The Bristol Sauce team and I a greater chance of being able to continue doing what we love without going bankrupt. This in turn will gift you good karma, and thus create an endless circle of happiness.
Thank you and festive tidings! ~ Meg
A one-off: BANK X Whyte’s, Totterdown
Whyte Rushen, formerly of the eponymous Hackney spot where he pushed snail and oyster Rockefeller with monster munch cafe de Paris, and beef fat French toast with miso dulce de leche ice cream, recently announced a UK restaurant tour with an Eric Cantona-esque monologue.
“When the champagne bottle smashes on the hull of the boat and you set sail screaming bon voyage, you don’t think about the return, the holiday blues times a billion…the absolute void and how humdrum it becomes after the noise has settled.”
While he’s not bringing his pickle onioned molluscs, or indeed sardines, to Totterdown, you can expect whipped cod’s roe-filled Yorkshire puddings and sticky lardy cake with date butterscotch. Oof.
