Bristol's 56 best restaurants, mapped
Your new restaurant guide just landed
Hello Saucers. This is a bit of a deviation from our usual restaurant reviews and columns, but I hope you’ll bear with us because it’s a one off and I think it’s deserving of your attention.
I have grand plans for the Sauce in the long run. Grand plans indeed. But at the moment I am facing rather severe time and budget constraints. The good thing about constraints is that they force you to innovate, and innovate I have. In the future, I want to create a Bristol Sauce app (if there’s any web developers out there who are really good and really cheap - this is your sign to get in touch). I can’t create an app just yet, so instead I have created what we can think of as a prototype, or proof of concept, and as it actually works quite well, it would be rude of me to keep it to myself.
Behold, the Sauce map. (Please note - this does require you to have Google Maps)
Have a play around. Click on some dots. Hopefully you should see a beautiful display of restaurants in Bristol that The Bristol Sauce recommends, but for the first time ever, they’re on a map. Much more useful for when you’re out and about and hungry.
I encourage you to share this map with anyone who may be interested or find it useful. Hopefully when others use the map they will become familiar with the Sauce too, which can only be helpful in the long run. The more readers we have, the more we can write.
Each map entry has a short description that should give you a brief flavour of the place and how much it costs, plus a review that we’ve written if you’d like to read more. I’d advise you to take the actual Google Maps rating with a heavy pinch of salt, as recent research I’ve been doing suggests they are not nearly as accurate or trustworthy as we’ve been led to believe. More on that another time.
If you think there is a glaring omission from this map, please do let us know. The beauty of it is that whenever we add or remove a restaurant, your version of the map will update automatically. So if we eat somewhere and think it’s worth knowing — there’ll be a new little yellow dot next time you open the map.

And if any of this is remotely useful and you haven’t already, please consider becoming a paying Saucer. It currently only costs £3.50 a month, but the price will increase in April - but only for new subscribers. So if you get in there now, you’ll be able to access all our content forever for our lowest ever cost.
Thank you very much! Now go and eat something. Meg X

I'd like to recommend adding Basil, and Chris and Jo's Kitchen!
Some great recommendations for places I've not yet been to. Adelina Yard feels like it should be on there
